The place: Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Livermore, Calif.
Danielle's status: A fresh transplant from South Dakota, desperate for friends.
Aaron's status: Career focused traveler/super shy around hot chicks
Our story as told by Danielle:
So I walked into this big church in search of a friendly group of people to sit with, praying I’d avoid a scene that had any resemblance to Forrest Gump on the bus. Remember, people kept saying “This seat’s taken,” as the poor kid shuffled down the bus aisle.

Ha! Yeah right. Stuff like that only happens on the big screen!
Actually, Aaron’s friend John Read and I hit it off and started to hang out as friends. Aaron, on the other hand, having no idea the woman he would one day marry was smiling across the table at him, sat there silent!
It all turned out for the best though, as God’s infinitely good plans tend to do.
John, Aaron, my roommate and I hung out off and on over the next year and a half. We’d all meet up at the movies or a coffee shop, and occasionally drive into San Francisco to walk through downtown or eat at the restaurants that overlook Union Square.
John started to date Aaron’s sister, Jennifer, and we all gradually lost touch for about six months. Until one night I felt a tug to drive to a Bible study that Aaron and John attended at a church about 20 minutes away. I always enjoyed the study and I thought it’d be fun to run into my old friends. When I walked into the church, of course about a half-hour late, I was suddenly so excited to see Aaron again. He later told me he felt that same unexpected spark that night.
A few weeks later, I received a surprising call from Aaron, this kind, gentle-spirited guy I had called my friend for about a year. He asked me for coffee – just us!
And so our adventure began.
Eight months later, he got down on one knee to ask for my hand in marriage. I said yes. And we promised we'd spend the rest of our lives loving each other.
Now, here's the much shorter version as told by Aaron:
I was sitting at church with John as per usual on Tuesday nights not expecting much, when about a half hour into the service a really attractive girl shows up and sits at our table.

Then in April 2007, Danielle showed up at the church I grew up in for the college and career night. This time it was pretty much like stuff happens on the big screen. Our eyes met across the room and it was like we were the only ones in the room. Just days later we were on our first coffee date. Apparently, it was kinda awkward, but Danielle put up with my terrible shyness and bad conversation skills and the rest is history.

How lovely, Danny Beth. And where did Aaron me Lad drop to his knee to invoke your hand? Yes sireee, right here in the MacMurchy living room, standing room only at the Scottish Friends Talent Show, circa Dec. 07. What a night to remember!
I love Aaron's version!
About the shyness part, how does a really shy person (I have no personal frame of reference here) tell stories and then end up on his knee asking that same very attractive girl to be his wife in the midst of total strangers? Pretty gutsy, if you ask me!
And besides, the MacMurchy's need an introvert or two in the family! WELCOME Aaron. I'm glad as can be that you asked Danielle to coffee, awkward or not!
Hi Danielle and Aaron!
I love BOTH versions! Greg and I tell the same story of our meeting differently too! Aaron, my Grego was shy too, but he's quite out of his shell now--I have a feeling that the Macmurchy family won't let you stay in there long either! It's too much fun on the outside! Just kidding! I wish we could celebrate your special day in CA, but know that we are so happy for both of you and we'll be celebrating and praying for God's blessings to be on every part of your day and most importantly, your marriage for a lifetime!
Much love,
Greg, Jeanne, Emilee and Shawn Horning
Dear Aaron, Danielle, Mark & Debbie,
Congratulations to you all! We wish you the very best in the future and can't wait to meet Danielle. (Very attractive, indeed--but she looks like she's MORE than just attractive--she appears to have good teeth!)
Loved reading how you two met, I got teary eyed. You two were definitely both at the same event, just a few details were changed to protect the innocent... I think this is a good indication of future compatibility!
Much love,
The Woods
